My main interest is operating voice SSB and Digi modes, I am having a go at FT8 so please be patient its a new mode to me, If I hear you and respond on FT8 I will only respond a maximum of six times, I will then moveon to the next station. Other modes I operate are SSTV PSK31 and WSPR. I have a modest setup at the moment, operating FT450 into a Buddipole, which is mounted on a wheel barrow.
Bands I operate on - day time 20 and 10 meters, as soon as the gray line comes across on my location 20 meters fades off, night time operations are on 10 and 40 meters
On other bands I have a DMR hotspot in the house and I am quite often connected to the Highlands and Islands Scottish network 23558. I am also a passionate APRS user however I may only appear via the map on DMR.
I mostly operate between 17:00 - 19:00 UTC a few nights a week.
Anyway a bit about me, I am from a small town in the west coast of Scotland called Oban, I am married to Alana, I have two adult children Morgan and Millie, our young child is our cat Jamesie, we class Elgin as home now spent many years up there drinking spay side whisky. my other passion is cycling having competed at national level and work on training camps in Majorca.
